Mystic Rotary Grant for Children's Books on DVD
The Rotary Club of Mystic recently granted $250.00 to the Mystic & Noank Library to purchase new Children's Books on DVD. The DVDs help develop
pre-reading skills as children listen to stories and read along with the video
on their television or computer screen.
The Library has over 300 children’s and teen’s books on DVD and continually updates its collection. “We are grateful for the Rotary Club of Mystic’s ongoing support of our programs,” said Roberta Donahue, Children’s Librarian. “Since we have been adding books to our online e-reader library, we need extra funding to continue to add to our DVD collection in the Library.”

2013 Take Your Child to the Library Day!
Saturday, February 2, 2013 10am - 5pm
The Mystic & Noank Library Children’s Room joins
hundreds of libraries across the country to celebrate the second annual Take
Your Child to the Library Day. On
Tuesday, February 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Library will feature games,

This grass-roots effort was started in 2012 by Waterford,
Connecticut Children’s Librarian, Nadine Lipman, and Stratford, Connecticut’s
librarian, Caitlin Augusta. After only one year, over 200 libraries in 31
states (to date) are participating.
The Mystic & Noank Library will feature children’s
Valentines crafts, Chess cCub at 10 a.m. (all are welcome), and a double
feature movie in the Ames Room starting at 1:30 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

The Polar Express has arrived!
The “Mystic Polar Express” has arrived in the Children’s Room at the Mystic & Noank Library. Barry Boodman and Bill Salancy created and donated a railroad miniature in what has become a holiday tradition. Children and families are invited to visit the Library during regular hours to make the train puff and toot its way around this magical setting. As a fundraiser, the Library is auctioning off the entire set throughout the month of December. Bidding closes on Saturday, December 22 at 2 p.m.
