Our Wild Neighbors
The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center will present the program Our Wild Neighbors - - how to be a good neighbor to wildlife on Saturday, January 22 at 2 PM. This program is for 5 to 10 year olds and their families. Registration is not required.
Chess Club
Bring your brain power! Chess Club continues to meet on Saturdays at 10 AM. Come to the Library and play a pick-up game of Chess. Feel free to bring a friend! We have plenty of chess sets and a beautiful setting to play!

Starting in January
Saturday afternoon movie matinees at 3:00 pm for kids and their families. Free! Bring your own popcorn. This will take place every Saturday from January 8th - March 19th. Please join us!

October is platemaking Month!
Come be a part of the platemaking tradition, our annual fundraiser in the Children's Room. During normal Library hours for the month of October, you can come in and design your own colorful plate. $8.00 per plate. Proceeds benefit the Children's Room.
Bedtime Stories
Begin this month on Monday, October 18th. We hope you can join us! The Reverend Barbara Porizky will share stories from the heart and imagination that tickle and embrace the child in all her listeners. For additional dates, check out our schedule.

Summer Children and Teen Events!
Chess club continues all summer on Saturdays at 10:00 am in the children's room.
Children are welcome to join in the fun at Lego club Fridays, starting July 2nd from 10:30 to 12:00.
Join us Fridays at 3:00pm for movies every week! July 2nd through August 13th. Snacks from home welcome.
The summer reading program begins Monday, June 28th. Make a Splash at the Mystic and Noank Library!
Love bubbles? Pop over to the library to see BubbleMania, "comedy with a drip", Tuesday July 6th at 2:00pm.
Tuesday, July 13th at 2:00pm Danny Magic will bring his "magic for everyone" to the Mystic and Noank Library.
Come hear tales of the sea and shore with story teller Carolyn Martino, who brings us "Tales Ahoy!" on Tuesday, July 2oth at 2:00pm.
"Catch the Wave!", Tuesday July 27th at 2:00pm, with comedian and mime artist, Robert Rivest.
Join us for more "Tales of Sea and Shore" from Sparky's Puppets. Tuesday, August 3rd at 2:00pm.
Friday, June 25th the teens will kick off the summer with a surfing movie double-feature from 12:30-4:30pm. Snacks provided.
Monday, June 28th from 1:00-4:00pm join us in the teen area for some "Make a Splash!" themed games. Feel free to bring in any water themed games you have.
Teen Tie-Dye: July 12th from 1:00-4:00pm on the library lawn. Bring in a t-shirt, socks, tote bag, pillow case, you name it!
Do you prefer sushi or candy? What if you could combine the two? Teens can come create candy sushi Monday July 19th from 1:00-4:00pm.
Join us Monday, July 26th from 1:00-4:00pm for a fail-proof watercolor project to bring home or decorate the teen area!
Are you a bibliophile? Come make some decorations from recycled books for your room or the teen area Monday, August 2nd from 1:00-4:00pm.
Teens are invited to decorate their water bottles on Monday, August 9th from 1:00-4:00pm. You bring the bottle, we bring the rest!

May Events in the Children's Room!

The Lego robotics program meets again Saturday May 1st in the Ames room at 3:00pm.
The annual library fair poster contest continues this year. Bring in your poster by 5:00pm, Saturday May 15th. Winning entries will be posted in the windows of Bank Square Books in downtown Mystic.
Contest rules: Posters should be no larger than 12"x 18" and include the artist's name, age, home telephone number, school and grade on the back. Please include: "Mystic & Noank Library Fair", "Saturday, June 5, 2010" and "9:30 am to 2:30 pm".
Awards in several categories and a grand prize of a $20 gift certificate to Bank Square Books will be presented at 11:30am on Saturday, June 5, 2010 as part of the fair festivities!

March at Mystic and Noank!
Bedtime stories continue Monday March 8th with storyteller Rev. Barbara Porizky. Join us this month in the activity room. We'll be back upstairs by the fireplace in April. Pajamas welcome!
Renovations on the library have begun! We will be closed to the public starting Monday March 15th and will reopen Monday March 22nd. Come in to see us all spiffed-up!

February Children's Room Events
Our bedtime stories series continues February 8th. Join storyteller Rev. Barara Porizky by the upstairs fireplace at 6:30pm. Pajamas are welcome!
We've already heard from Puxatony Phil, but our weather reports show that Tuesday the 16th is going to be Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs! Join us for at 4:00pm in the meeting room for this 2009 adaptation of a great children's book (rated PG). Free! Bring your own popcorn.
Have you ever wondered, "Where do the animals go when it rains?" On Saturday February 20th at 3:00pm, you can learn about where animals hide in this interactive program presented by the Denison Peqoutsepos Nature Center. Part of the One Book, Every Young Child initiative sponsored by the Libraries of Southeastern Connecticut and the Community Foundation of Southeastern Connecticut. Space is limited, registration beginning January 29th.
Spring Storytime registration begins February 22nd. Registration is by lottery as class sizes are limited. Please register in person, in the children's room or by phone during registration week. The library will contact you by mail. Classes begin March 22nd and are 8 weeks long. Call, 860 536 7721, or come in for schedule and other information.
Join us for a preschool program of Dr. Seuss stories and songs February 27th at 11am!
